You suddenly cannot print on a Windows Vista PC. You keep getting error messages about the Print Spooler Stopping or the Print Spooler Service Not Running or Print Spooler Subsystem has stopped working.
Everything was working fine and then someone clicked on a PDF file in an email and tried to print it. Then for about a week, nothing could be printed on that PC. Any attempt to print resulted in one of the various Print Spooler errors.
We did 2 things that fixed it.
1. Go to Control Panel, Programs and Features. Click Turn Windows Features On or Off
Expand Print Services
Untick Internet Printing Client
Tick LPD Print Service
Tick LPR Port Monitor
click OK
2. Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
Delete all the files in there.
That completely fixed the problem and we can now print OK. Hope it works for you too.
