Amphis Software Tech Tips

The Problem

Trying to run Amphis WebCRMView on a 64-bit PC gives this error.

The Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 provider is not registered on the local machine

Background

Amphis WebCRMView displays customer details stored in an Amphis Customer CRM Microsoft Access Database on a web site. (Amphis Customer also support using SQL Server as a Database Server). The software uses Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB to connect to the Access Database. Unfortunately there is no 64-bit Jet OLEDB Provider.

The Solution

The solution is to run Amphis WebCRMView as a 32-bit application. This is achieved by enabling 32-bit applications for the App Pool in which Amphis WebCRMView runs. This can be done on the Advanced Settings for the App Pool in Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

To find out which App Pool to update, right-click on your Web Site in IIS and select Manage Web Site->Advanced Settings. This will show you which App Pool your web site is using and hence which App Pool to update. If in doubt, update all the App Pools to have 32-bit Apps Enabled.
