Sending SMS Text Messages Successfully

Within our CRM Software a "Success String" is used to determine if an SMS Message was sent successfully. When you send a Test Message, the response from the SMS Service Provider is displayed and you can determine from the message what to use as a Success String. For example, some Providers may send back a response that includes "Success" or "CreditsRemaining" to indicate that the SMS Message was successfully sent.

You need to send a Test Message when you credits have expired to check what response the SMS Service Provider returns when the SMS Message was not sent successfully. For example, Providers may send back a response that includes "Fail" or "Error" or just send back a message that doesn't include "Success".

Some SMS Providers return a response that includes the full SMS Message you are attempting to send so be careful that if the message you want to send includes the word "Success" then the response from the SMS Provider may include the word "Success" even if the SMS Message failed to send.

When sending a SMS Text Message, the software will look for the "Success String" in the response received from the Service Provider. If you have specified a Success String, and the string is found, the software assumes the SMS Message was sent successfully and records the SMS in the Customer History for the Customer.

If you haven't specified a Success String then the software has no way of detecting that the SMS Message was successful or not so it always records the SMS Message in the Customer History. If you then receive a "Credits Expired" Email message from your SMS Provider you could manually delete the SMS Message entry from the Customer History.

If you have specified a Success String and the response from the SMS Provider does not include the string then the software assumes the SMS Message failed and the SMS Message is not recorded in the Customer History.

You can change the SMS configuration of our CRM Software any time to use a different SMS Service Provider.
