CRM Software - SMS Text Messages Configuration
In order to send SMS Messages from our CRM Software you need to have an account with a SMS Text Message Service Provider and you need to configure our software using the details supplied from the Service Provider.
The SMS Message Service Provider will provide a URL that you need to send messages to in order to send SMS Messages. This can be entered into the URL field. It is best to use https rather than http if your SMS Message Service Provider supports https as it means that your account username and password will be encrypted for security.
The SMS Message Service Provider may provide a string that you need to send in order to send a SMS Message. It may be something like this :-
username=myusername&password=mypassword&message=test&from=mybusiness&telnumbers=1234567890
You can enter the string provided by your SMS Message Provider into the POST String field but you need to use your SMS Message Provider account username and password rather than the example supplied by them.
For the message, use <!message!> and Amphis Customer will replace that with whatever message you wish to send.
For the cell/mobile number, use <!telnumbers!> and Amphis Customer will replace that with the number(s) you wish to send to.
Some SMS Providers don't require a message body to be posted but instead put the telephone number and message in the url in which case you can leave the POST String field blank and just enter the url to send.
SMS Software Configuration Example
The example below is a working example using the SMS Message Provider txtlocal.com (but with the username and password hidden). When a SMS Message is successfully sent using txtlocal, the response tells you how many credits you have left, but if you attempt to send a SMS Message when you have no credits left, the response doesn't include CreditsRemaining.

Send SMS Message Success
The Success string enables you to enter a string that you would normally expect to see in the response from the SMS Message Service Provider when a SMS Message has been successfully sent. Amphis Customer then checks the reponse to see if this string exists. If the string exists, a customer history entry is automatically created to record that the SMS Message has been successfully sent. If the string is not found in the response, then it is assumed that the SMS Message was not successfully sent (probably because you have run out of credits) and so a customer history entry is not created.
If a Success string is not entered, the software assumes that all SMS Messages were successfully sent and creates a customer history entry for each to record that the SMS Message was sent.
You can click Send Test SMS Message to send a Test message to check that SMS Messages are being sent successfully and to check the Success string to check that it successfully detects SMS Messages being successfully sent. We suggest also attempting to send a SMS Message when your account has run out of credits to check that your Success string is not found in the response which allows the software to detect a SMS Message not being successfully sent.
Confused ?
In order to send SMS text messages using Amphis Customer, you need to set up an account with a SMS provider that supports sending SMS messages using a HTTP API which is basically just a url that Amphis Customer can call to send a SMS message, and which supports sending SMS messages in your country.
A good example is textmarketer.biz which uses this url for sending SMS messages.
https://www.textmarketer.biz/gateway/?username=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD&number=NUMBER&message=MESSAGE&orig=BUSINESSNAME
In Amphis Customer you can set that up from Options->Configure SMS.
In Amphis Customer you would specify the username and password for the account you have created with a SMS provider.
Amphis Customer uses special tags <!telnumbers!> and <!message!> for the telephone number(s) to send to and the message to send, and fills in the information from the information you have entered in Amphis Customer.
So, for example, if you have an account with SMS Provider textmarketer.biz, in Amphis Customer you can set the url to send messages in Options->Configure SMS like this (assuming your username for your SMS Provider account is bob, your password is tractor and your business name is acmebuilders.
https://www.textmarketer.biz/gateway/?username=bob&password=tractor&number=<!telnumbers!>&message=<!message!>&orig=acmebuilders
If you know a SMS provider in your country that provides a HTTP API like this and can send SMS messages using a url, please send us a link to the web site of the SMS Provider and we'll be happy to help you set up Amphis Customer to send SMS messages as part of the Free 60 Day Trial. Many SMS Providers also provide free credits so you may be able to test the SMS service with Amphis Customer for free.
