Install Database Software

When you first install Amphis Customer onto a PC called PC1, it installs Amphis Customer and the Database (customer.mdb) and the Documents and Templates folders all on to PC1 like this. Amphis Customer is automatically configured to connect to the Database and the Documents and Templates folders on the local PC.

Customer Database

As you create customer records and documents on PC1 they are stored in the Database and in the Documents folder on PC1.

Add Additional User

As your business expands, you might add another user so you install Amphis Customer onto PC2. This installs Amphis Customer and the Database (customer.mdb) and the Documents and Templates folders all on to PC2 like this.

Remember that Amphis Customer is automatically configured to connect to the Database and the Documents and Templates folders on the local PC.

Additional User Customer Database

BUT now, customer records and documents created on PC1 are still stored in the Database and in the Documents folder on PC1. And customer records and documents created on PC2 are stored in the Database and in the Documents folder on PC2. Each PC is connecting to it's own local Database and local Documents and Templates folders. The data and documents are not being shared...

How to Share the Database and Documents

In order to share the customer data and documents between multiple users you need to copy the Database and the Documents and Templates folders to a different location that both PCs can access. You need to create a shared folder and copy the Database and the Documents and Templates folders onto the shared folder. Copy these from whichever PC you have entered the existing customer data into.

Share Customer Database and Documents

Copy Database, Documents and Templates to a Shared Folder

Note: don't just move these to the shared folder as Amphis Customer won't be able to start up if the Database isn't where it expects to find it. Instead, copy them, then update Amphis Customer on PC1 and PC2 to use the ones in the shared folder instead.

Update Amphis Customer Configuration

Update the configuration of Amphis Customer on PC1 and on PC2 (from Tools->Configuration) so that they both connect to the Database and the Documents and Templates folders in the shared folder instead of PC1 and PC2 each connecting to their local Database, Documents and Templates.

Share Customer Database

Share Customer Data and Documents Between Multiple Users

Now as you create customer records and documents on each PC they are all stored in the same Database and Documents Folder and they are available to all Amphis Customer users on the network.
