Reasons to Upgrade from Access to SQL Server

There are lots of reasons why you should consider upgrading your Microsoft Access database (customer.mdb) to Microsoft SQL Server including the free version called Microsoft SQL Server Express.

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express provides better performance and reliability than a Microsoft Access database especially as the number of users and size of the database increases.

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express is more scalable and can support many more users than a Microsoft Access database.

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express can be hosted to provide access to your data from multiple locations.

  • The new web software we are developing including Amphis Web Customer uses Microsoft SQL Server Express and doesn't support Microsoft Access databases.

  • Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012 is Free and supports database sizes up to 10Gb. (Please note that to support a database larger than 10Gb you would need to purchase the full version of SQL Server 2012 from Microsoft).
