CRM Support Notes

These notes are intended to help IT Professionals to Support Amphis Customer CRM. These notes are provided for information only. Amphis Software does not guarantee that these notes are up to date or that they will work for your intended purpose. We recommend that you back up your data before using any of the information provided here. Use of this information is at your own risk.

Edit CRM Database Data

The only time you may need to manually edit the data in the database is if you have been running multiple copies of different versions of Amphis Customer at the same time, and the newer version creates a new column in the database that the older version of the software doesn't know about.

The Upgrade page tells clients that it is essential that all PCs run the exact same version and build of Amphis Customer to prevent issues with the database but unfortunately, this advice is often ignored and this can occasionally lead to manual edits of the database data being required.

Edit Microsoft Access Data

If the client is using the default Access database (customer.mdb) the data can be edited in Microsoft Access. From Tools->Configuration you can click view folder in the Database section at the top to locate the Access database. You need to open the database in Microsoft Access (or ask your IT Support to do this for you) and close down all instances of Amphis Customer.

Edit Access Database Data

You will see a list of database tables on the left. You can double-click the table you need to edit and it will display the rows of data.

Edit Access CRM Data

Just click in the cell you need to enter data into and type in your data. Click in a cell in a different row and the data will be saved. Close Microsoft Access when you have finished or else the database tables will be locked and you won't be able to create or update any data in the database.

Edit Microsoft SQL Server Data

If the client has upgraded the Access database to a SQL Server database, you can edit the data in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. You need to locate your Customer database in the Object Explorer on the left and expand the Tables section.

Edit SQL Server Data

Locate the table you need to enter data into. Right-click on the table and select Edit Top 200 Rows.

Edit SQL Server Rows

Just click in the cell you need to enter data into and type in your data.

Edit SQL Server CRM Data

Click in a cell in a different row and the data will be saved.

Click the X button to close the tab when you have finished and close down SQL Server Management Studio or else the database tables will be locked and you won't be able to create or update any data in the database.
