CRM Software on a Server

CRM Install on Server
We are sometimes asked if Amphis Customer can be installed on a Server.
Amphis Customer is designed to work on an office network. You can share customer data and documents between multiple users by moving the database, documents and templates to a shared folder. But Amphis Customer is not server software. Amphis Customer runs on each client PC.
We are developing Amphis Web Customer which is server software and is designed to run on a web server to provide web and mobile access to some of the data in the Amphis Customer database.
CRM Install Options
Although it is possible to install Amphis Customer on a server, there is no advantage to doing so because it is the same as installing the software on a client PC. Amphis Customer is not server software. So if you install Amphis Customer on Server1 but you want to access the software from PC1 you would have to remotely log on to Server1 from PC1 to run the software using a Remote Desktop Connection (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Remote Desktop Connection).
Difference Between Client Software and Server Software
The difference between client software and server software is simply that client software such as Amphis Customer runs on each client PC and can also access resources such as a database on a server. Whereas server software such as Amphis Web Customer runs on a server and allows client PCs to connect to it using thin clients such as web browsers.
Amphis Web Customer
We are developing Amphis Web Customer which uses a different software architecture where the software runs on a web server.
